What’s the best way to find a new job in marketing?
SmileyGirl asked:
I’ve tried everything. Looking on internet job boards. Researching contacts and sending them my resume directly. I even re-vamped my entire resume. It’s hard to keep hearing “Sorry we don’t have any openings” over and over again. Please help!

Howdy- I think you might wanna take an alternative road to getting a job. I highly recommend this site especially if you are into marketing & sales. Good Luck finding a job!
Go here-
ladder.com is a great site if you are looking for marketing jobs that pay 100k plus. Sending your resume directly will get you no where, it never works. The best plan always is to go through your college alumni network to find a job.
Stay at it. Are you degreed? Search the classifieds in print and online every single day. Send out resumes as often as you can. I am a marketing director with over 20 years of experience. When I changed positions, I scoured for three months, sending out literally dozens of resumes. Eventually the calls started coming in. Look at your resume closely. Would you hire you? If you are into sales and marketing, the first thing you have to sell is yourself. Be creative, clever, but not over the top. Good luck.
I would go through the yellow pages (the internet version works well) and see all local companies that might have sales or marketing departments. I would contact the main office ask for HR or the manager of sales and try to see if they have any openings.
You may have to start with an entry level job at the company and work yourself up. I am not sure of the marketing job availability in your area but if there aren’t many I would do the next best job or try a different state.
What state are you in? I live in Pennsylvania and I have seen a couple of marketing rep and assistant positions in the state job boards at cwds.state.pa.us. Maybe there is an organization in your state that can also further assist you.
Start you own business and market that. I became an independent distributor for a company 6 months ago and am currently earning $200/week doing it part time. Stop getting doors closed in your face and take control of your career and financial security. Now that I have gotten a taste of owning a business I don’t know it I could ever go back to being an employee. It is quite liberating!
Email me your resume
I would start connecting to people that are in the marketing space and build contacts.
LinkedIn is a good place to do this as it has many professional marketers and recruiters that specialize in marketing.
You can request access to join the free LinkedIn group called Marketing Mavens for people interested in marketing. It has 1,700+ members, some of which are likely in your area and hiring.
